In the 14th minute, Dashers goalkeeper Keenan Tutin produced one of the moments of the match. Caught off his line, Tutin sprinted back to make a stunning recovery save and deny what looked a certain opening goal for Republica. The visitors registered their first shot a minute later but failed to trouble the scoreline.

Republica began to apply pressure through midfield, forcing the Dashers defence to work hard. A free-kick was awarded after a challenge by Matthew Reid — a decision that drew frustration from the home side. Republica capitalised, scoring directly from the set piece in the 36th minute to take the lead.

Morley Dashers responded immediately.

A move started in midfield with a quick exchange between Matthew Reid and Harry Sefton, driving the ball forward before finding Christopher Roome. Roome was brought down, but advantage was played. Sefton recovered possession and threaded a pass through to Macauley Clarke, who finished confidently to make it 1–1 before the break.

At half-time, Connor Young asked his side to be smarter in possession, reduce unnecessary turnovers, and trust their midfield structure.

The response was clear.

Dashers dominated large spells of the second half, moving the ball with more control and purpose. In the 62nd minute, another long throw from Christopher Roome caused chaos in the Republica box. A failed clearance fell perfectly for Roome, who delivered a precise pass behind the defence for Matthew Reid to finish, giving Dashers a 2–1 lead.

Just two minutes later, Clarke produced a phenomenal pass from the halfway line to find Luke Foley in space. Foley’s effort looked destined for the net, only to be denied by an outstanding goal-line clearance from a Republica defender.

The visitors responded quickly.

In the 65th minute, Republica launched a long throw into the Dashers penalty area. The defence couldn’t clear their lines, and the ball was forced over the line to level the match at 2–2.

As the game entered its final stages, Republica appeared content with a draw, dropping deep and packing their midfield into defensive positions. Chances became harder to create, and the match looked to be drifting towards a shared point.

Then came another twist.

In the 85th minute, Keenan Tutin’s long kick found Harry Sefton on the wing. Sefton drove into the box, drew the goalkeeper, and squared the ball calmly to Lucas Harker, who finished to restore Morley Dashers’ lead at 3–2.

Dashers fought to protect their advantage, but deep into stoppage time, a foul conceded on the edge of the area proved costly. Republica converted the resulting free-kick in the 91st minute, bringing the match to a dramatic 3–3 conclusion.

Across 90 minutes, six goals and 21 shots reflected a contest full of momentum swings, resilience, and attacking intent.

For Connor Young, it wasn’t the controlled first day he might have envisioned — but it was a performance that showed character, belief, and signs of a team willing to respond, whatever the circumstances.
